Begin by completing the quick online vehicle donation form for Valor Wheels or by calling Heritage for the Blind directly. You will share basic details such as your name, contact information, pickup address in the Albuquerque Metro, and the vehicle year, make, model, condition, and title status. You do not need to know the vehicle’s value or have it running to start. A coordinator calls back to schedule your free pickup
After your form is submitted, a donation coordinator typically calls back within 1 to 2 business hours. During that call, you can ask questions, confirm the pickup location, and choose a convenient towing window. Whether the car is parked at your home near Nob Hill, an apartment in Uptown, a driveway in Rio Rancho, or a relative’s property in Los Lunas, the coordinator will help make the handoff clear. Towing is free, and there are no processing fees, pickup charges, or hidden costs for the donor.
The tow truck arrives and you sign the title
In most metro areas, a licensed tow truck can arrive the same day or the next business day, depending on availability and your schedule. At pickup, please have the vehicle title ready, along with keys if you have them and access to where the vehicle is parked. The driver will load the vehicle and guide you on the required title handoff so you can sign the title over properly. Your vehicle is moved to auction or a parts reseller
Once the vehicle leaves your Albuquerque Metro pickup location, it is transported through the donation network to the best available resale channel. Many donated vehicles go to auction; others may be directed to a parts reseller if that creates the most practical value. You do not have to negotiate with buyers, arrange repairs, advertise the car, or meet strangers. Sale proceeds support Heritage for the Blind
After the vehicle sells, the proceeds go to Heritage for the Blind, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, EIN 58-2164446. Your tax receipt is mailed after the sale
Once the vehicle is sold, your tax documentation is prepared and mailed. For vehicles that sell for more than $500, Heritage for the Blind provides IRS Form 1098-C. For vehicles that sell for $500 or under, you receive a written acknowledgment. The full donation process, from initial form or call to final tax receipt, typically takes about 2 to 6 weeks, depending on towing, sale timing, and mail delivery.
